William Johnson is a postdoctoral researcher who joined the Genetic Logic Lab in the Fall of 2026 and is advised by Dr. Chris Myers. He is a Fellow in the Intelligence Community Postdoctoral program and is working in the area of biosurveillance for genetically engineered microbes. His fellowship research is directed towards developing GEMminer, a suite of software tools for detecting sequences associated with genetic engineering in metagenome repositories.
Before joining the lab, William received a Ph.D in Environmental Engineering at CU Boulder, where his work focused on environmental surveillance for extreme hazards, including SARS-CoV-2 and chemical residues associated with urban wildfires.
